ABOUT OUR ROCKSALT

Rock salt is a natural element also called sodium chloride or NaCl if you are a chemistry nerd. It works by lowering the temperature at which water freezes. This phenomenon spurs melting and inhibits freezing. When salt combines with ice and it melts, a brine forms.

Our recommended rates of application are;

Frost 10 to 15gm2
Ice 20 to 30gm2
Snow 30 to 40gm2

Delivery charge (if applicable) applied at Checkout. Please note that deliveries to more remote areas may take longer. Normal delivery takes 2 to 3 working days. Please note that all deliveries are subject to weather conditions.

If you require a smaller 7.5 tonne lorry due to access restrictions please choose this option at the checkout stage.

Otherwise the standard pallet size of 1000kg applies.

Please note that you will be taking delivery of a pallet. It will be your responsibility to move your items to your storage area.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Rock Salt or White Salt?

Rock salt is mined from Winsford in Cheshire as it is local it offers great value but can leave a residue on floors inside buildings. This is the same salt that your local council use on the roads and carparks and is a widely used method of de-icing and ice & frost prevention.

White salt is the cleaner alternative as it is pure salt. It is made by evaporating sea water this process is taken place in warmer climates. Again this is a widely used method of de-icing and ice & frost prevention.
